Dear Larson Angus Ranch Customers,

U.S. Premium Beef is proud to be associated with Larson Angus Ranch.

As a founding member of U.S. Premium Beef, Dan and Becky Larson

saw the vision for how they and their customers could be economically

rewarded for producing and marketing better quality beef. They have

first-hand experience in all segments of the beef industry from raising

purebred and commercial cows, to operating their own private feedyard

where they finish their own calves, to working in the commercial feedyard

industry. And now, having ownership in beef processing through USPB

has given them a complete perspective of the entire industry few people

have. On top of that, selling their genetics private treaty for the last 18

years has helped them understand what today’s commercial producer

wants and needs to maximize total performance in their beef operation.

The result has been genetics that work for all segments of the beef industry.

The data says it all. Larson Angus Ranch has marketed just under 1,400

cattle through USPB and ALL have averaged 11% Prime, 87% Choice or

better, 35% Certified Angus Beef® (CAB) carcasses. Those cattle earned

almost $63 per head in premiums above the cash fed cattle market which

puts Larson Angus Ranch cattle in the top 25% of all USPB cattle marketed

since the company began operations in 1997. During 2005, Larson’s

home raised cattle averaged 28% Prime, 95% Choice, 35% CAB and

earned $118 per head more than if they would have sold on the cash live

market. That’s like getting $21.45 more per cwt. on a 550 lb. calf!

We’re definitely looking for more of those kind of cattle. You can use

Larson Angus Ranch genetics to produce calves that have the bred in

ability to grade. By retaining ownership through finishing and then marketing

them through U.S. Premium Beef, you’ll have the opportunity to

get paid for the quality of beef you produce. In addition, USPB is currently

paying additional grid premiums for cattle that can be age verified

as 20 months of age or less.

If you are not ready to retain ownership, the next best alternative is to

work with Larsons to market your feeder cattle to USPB feedlots. The

Larson family has solid relationships with our Qualified Custom Feedlots

who are interested in purchasing, partnering or custom feeding your

calves. U.S. Premium Beef also offers free advertising for Larson Angus

Ranch customers by listing their calves on USPB’s Feeder Fax, which is

distributed to all 28 of USPB’s Qualified Custom Feedlots. For more information
